Stage is all set for the launching of the country’s first-of-its-kind Rythu Bandhu, farmers’ investment support scheme, at Indirangar village of Huzurabad mandal on Thursday by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Eatala Rajender visited the village on Sunday and inspected the arrangements for the CM’s visit to launch the ambitious programme and address a huge gathering of farmers. About one lakh are expected to be mobilised from erstwhile Karimnagar and adjoining Warangal districts.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to arrive in Karimnagar town on Wednesday and participate in Rythu Bandhu scheme on Thursday morning at 11 a.m.
Talking to newsmen, the Minister said that they had chosen the Karimnagar district for the launch of Rythu Bandhu and distribution of passbooks to the farmers for only for reasons of sentiment as the people of Karimnagar district had always reposed faith on the TRS since its inception in 2001.
‘The Rythu Bandhu scheme was aimed at providing financial assistance of ₹8,000 per acre per annum to the farmers to take up cultivation and the government was spending ₹1200 crore on the financial assistance to the farmers.
He said that they would be providing financial assistance to all the farmers owning the land as part of the Rythu Bandhu scheme. Asked about the tenant farmers, he hoped that the farmers who own the land and collect the financial assistance would share a part of amount with the tenant farmers.
Stating that the erstwhile Karimnagar district would turn as hub of irrigation projects with the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, he said that the Karimnagar district would have be having abundant water with LMD, MMD, Sripada Yellampalli project, Annaram, Sundilla and other projects and that drought would be completely eradicated. from Karimnagar district.
