Opposition parties have come together to announce that they plan to stage a joint demonstration in front of the Board of Intermediate Education on April 29, to protest the alleged mismanagement by the Board and the “callous” attitude of the government towards suicide by students.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, leaders from the Congress, Telangana TDP, TJS and the CPI castigated the government for the suicide by Intermediate students as a result of botched up evaluation process.

TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that the contract was given to Globarena based on legislator and TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s recommendation, and sought to know why he has not responded about it on Twitter where he posts frequently.

Call to participate

Mr. Prabhakar gave a call to students and their parents to participate and make the demonstration a success. CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy condemned Secretary, Higher Education, B. Janardhan Reddy’s comments, and questioned why the government was soft on the agency which caused the suicides, and how Secretary of BIE A. Ashok was being allowed to continue in the same post for years.

Telangana Jana Samithi leader M. Kondandaram said the time has come to exert societal pressure on the government, and alleged that the selection process by the TSPSC too was faulty.

No review

There has been no comprehensive review meeting by the Chief Minister even after several students ended their life, he said. TDP State president L. Ramana termed it as historic blunder, and criticised the Governor and Chief Minister for not responding with action.
