The demolition of Ambedkar statue and subsequent developments have brought together all the political parties that are otherwise at loggerheads politically and ideologically.

It reflected in the all party delegation that met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Tuesday demanding a direction to the government for installing the statue at the same place in Panjagutta from where it was removed.

The delegation consisting of TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, TTDP president L. Ramana, former BJP MLA G. Kishan Reddy, CPI State secretary Chada Venkata Reddy and MRPS founder president Manda Krishna Madiga among others said they would not agree to anything less than installation of a bronze statue of Dr. Ambedkar at Panjagutta.

The statue was removed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) while it was being erected as no permission was sought. It is alleged that later it was found broken though GHMC officials said it was shifted to the LB Stadium.

Mr. Uttam Reddy later told the reporters that government was adamant on the issue despite pleas from the political parties and society at large. They had to come to the Governor after the government refused to heed their requests.

Mr. Kishan Reddy alleged that the government was hell bent on destroying Dr. Ambedkar’s ideology and its response on the statue issue reflected that.

Mr. L. Ramana said action should be taken against the employees of the GHMC who had broken the statue and did not take any care while shifting it.
