Damage enumeration, speedy distribution of relief being taken up

There was less of rainfall on Friday which helped administrations of Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial districts speed up relief operations and take stock of the damage caused due to heavy rainfall the previous day. Police were also deployed at several places in order to help the administration and the common people in protecting life endangered by swollen rivers and streams.

In Adilabad, Collector D. Divya visited Chikmanvagu in Sirikonda mandal and interacted with villagers. She oversaw supply of purified drinking water at Rampurguda in the same mandal.

The administration in Adilabad opened camps for people evacuated in Ichoda, Rampurguda, Bazarhatnoor, Bela and locally in Khanapur and Bokkalguda. A contingent of the National Diasater Response Team had arrived the previous night.

Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna visited Khanapur locality, GS Estate, Bokkalguda relief camps. He interacted with people who were evacuated Thursday evening to the camps.

Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier visited Penganga bridge at Dollara in Jainad mandal where the swollen river threatened to dislocate traffic. DSP K. Narasimha Reddy was present on the bridge to monitor the situation continuously.

Kagaznagar DSP P. Sambaiah also monitored the situation continuously on Venkatapur bridge in Sirpur (T) mandal of KB Asifabad district where Penganga river looked like overflowing. Maharashtra police coordinated with the Kagaznagar police team in preventing heavy vehicle traffic on the bridge. Mancherial Collector R.V. Karnan visited Sripada Yellampalli project where water was being released all through the day. The project received heavy inflows owing to surplus discharge from Kadem dam. in Nirmal district.

The discharge of surplus water from Kadem was varying during the day and depended upon the inflows. Ichoda mandal in its catchment area had received over 27 cm of rainfall while Indervelli mandal had recorded about 18 cm.
