‘Aasara’ call centre launched

Phone numbers to lodge grievances related to Aasara Pension Scheme was launched on Monday by Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao at Rangareddy Zilla Parishad Office, Khairatabad. Apart from the filing and following up grievances, people can file new applications for the scheme. They can also get queries cleared through the ‘Zilla Samakhya Call Centre’.

Some of the grievance or requests include delay in issue of pension, change of pension category except from HIV and Filaria patients category, change of residence within a mandal or a district, revival of the beneficiary account who migrated for work. Data amendments such as changes in name, Aadhaar card number, bank account number, and others.A total of ₹ 878 crore per month is issued as pension to 39,34,253 beneficiaries who include senior citizens, widows, toddy tappers,weavers, physically-challenged, HIV and Filaria patients, beedi workers and single women.

Till Sunday, people had to visit collector’s office or other government office for the purposes. Prior to the launch of the initiative on Monday, officials said that some people have to visit the offices three to four times for redressal of their grievance.

Now, people can chose to use the phone numbers to lodge their grievance, apply for the scheme, or get information. Mr Rao said that as a start, phone numbers for 10 districts was launched, which will be expanded to the remaining districts. After lodging a complaint or registering a request, a unique ID will be assigned which can be used for follow up.
