In order to discourage the surrendered extremists from rejoining the naxalite-fold, Manthani legislator belonging to the ruling TRS, Putta Madhukar, convened a secret meeting with the former surrendered naxalites in Karimnagar town on Friday night. When contacted, Mr Madhukar told The Hindu on Saturday that he had convened a meeting with the surrendered extremists belonging to various naxalite groups of his Assembly constituency falling in Manthani and Bhupalapalli-Jayashankar districts to solve their land issues.

“The purpose of the meeting was to solve the problems of surrendered naxalites, especially about allocation of three acres of government land to the surrendered extremists for joining mainstream,” he maintained.

He said that he had convened the meeting with 120 surrendered naxalites to look into their problems.
