Seven injured in mine mishap

In a freak mishap, seven coal miners sustained injuries when an ‘air blast’ took place in the underground mine of GDK 11 incline in Ramagundam-1 region of Singareni Collieries Company Limited in Godavarikhani on Monday. Reports reaching here said that the miners went into the mine for the excavation of coal. Suddenly, due to ‘air blast’ following the formation of gases in the mine, seven workers sustained injuries and they were immediately shifted to the Singareni area hospital for treatment. Coal miners Kammari Sathaiah and L. Satyanarayana - who sustained serious injuries, were shifted to Hyderabad for treatment. The trade union leaders alleged that the accident occurred due to failure of the management to take safety measures.
