January 09, 2017 11:30 pm | Updated 11:30 pm IST - SANGAREDDY:

Responding to the report in these columns about children suffering from deformation — Fluorosis haunts children in Sangareddy — the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights served notice on the Collector and the District Medical and Health Officer directing them to submit a report within a week.

The Hindu reported the plight of three children suffering from deformation at Sheligira village in Manoor mandal of the district.

“M.S. Chandra, Director, CARPED, an NGO, lodged a complaint about the plight of the children. We received news clippings and photographs of poor sanitation and contaminated water. This is severe violation of child rights. Please inquire into it immediately, provide protected water and best available treatment to affected children within a week's time on most priority basis. Send your report within one week to the Commission,” SCPCR notice said.
