Pseudo-naxalite arrested, weapons recovered

The Karimnagar district police have arrested a pseudo-naxalite who is involved in settlements and extortion, and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from his possession.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Friday, Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy said Thota Ramulu alias Ramanna (36) of Keshanpalli village of Manthani Mutharam mandal, who is now residing in Kattarampur locality of Karimnagar town, was close a associate of surrendered Maoist Jadala Nagaraju. Suspected Maoists killed Thota Ramulu’s father Mogiliah alleging that he was responsible for the surrender of Jadala Nagaraju.

While moving with Nagaraju, Thota Ramulu was involved in making settlements by brandishing weapons. Before his disappearance, Nagaraju gave nine fire arms to Ramulu to hide and use them later. Subsequently, Ramulu began extorting money and settling disputes.

Recently a case was registered against Ramuluy by the Karimnagar one-town police over threatening of a person. The police also recovered weapons and 50 rounds of ammunition concealed in a water tank in the town.

The police said the accused was also involved settling marriage disputes and exploiting women sexually. The Commissioner of Police asked victims of Thota Ramulu to lodge complaints against him and assured them of protection.
