The Adivasi elders became emotional as they boarded the police vehicle from Asifabad to Mancherial town to get surgeries performed on their defective eyes on Thursday.

They thanked Kumram Bheem Asifabad Superintendent of Police Sunpreet Singh for facilitating the operations at a private eye hospital in the district headquarters town of Mancherial.

It may be recalled that the police had organised a free eye camp at the remote Malangondi village on January 10. As many as 16 elderly tribals were identified with eye defects that required surgeries to cure.

Seeing them off, the SP said the police was committed to the welfare of the people. Asifabad Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhaskar and town Circle Inspector Satish Kumar were also present.
