The Karimnagar district Horticulture Department has set a target of providing drip irrigation in 2,710 hectares, and sprinkler irrigation on another 3,200 hectares this year.

Disclosing the same on Wednesday, Telangana State Micro Irrigation Programme (TSMIP) project director G. Sangeetha Laxmi said that drip irrigation would be provided at cent per cent subsidy for SC\ST farmers, 90 subsidy for the BC farmers, and 80 per cent subsidy for wealthy farmers. The sprinkler irrigation system would be provided at 75 per cent subsidy to all the farmers, she added.
With regards to the Rashtriya Udyana Mission programme, she said that they have decided to provide 40 per cent subsidy for cultivation of mango, citrus fruits, acid lime, apple bear, custard apple, and lilies and other variety of flowers. They have also decided to provide 75,000 subsidy for farmers to construct farm ponds in their fields.
The farmers were informed to approach the TSMIP office at the Collectorate in Karimnagar town and apply for availing the scheme and subsidies. She said that the farmers can also dial toll free number 1800-425-8783 for any queries on horticulture cultivation and other schemes.
