Municipal AE jailed

BHADRADRI-KOTHAGUDEM: The first Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Hyderabad, on Monday sentenced G Ramesh Babu, Assistant Engineer, Palvancha municipality, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and o pay a fine of Rs 500 for the offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

In default, he is to suffer simple imprisonment for three months.

The court also sentenced the accused to another term of one year and imposed a fine of Rs 500 under Section 11 of P C Act and for another term of one year and levied a fine of Rs 500 under Section 13 (1) (d) r/w 13 (2) of P C Act.

All the sentences are to run concurrently.

According to a press release from the ACB, Ramesh was trapped by the ACB officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 and a gold plated wrist watch from a contractor for doing an official favour on December 23, 2010 in Palvancha.
