Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked people to "isolate and punish" pseudo cow protectors as they carried out sinister designs to disintegrate the country in the name of cow.
Addressing a public meeting at Gajwel in Medak district after launching, among others, the prestigious drinking water project of the State government — Mission Bhageeratha — Mr. Modi sounded caution to people to be alert towards those who espoused nationalism bringing the cow to centre stage. "Those who want disintegration of country involved the cow" but the government was committed to save agriculture, farmers and cows.
He discussed the significance of cow in the context of soil health conditions in the country while narrating how the half-a-dozen programmes that he launched at Gajwel today had Centre — State ramifications.
Mr. Modi asked the State governments to take care of soil health as availability of fertilizers was no longer an issue. He said he had not received requests from any State government in the last two years for supply of urea as the Centre took all steps to maintain supplies. The neem coating of urea strengthened soil.
He recalled that the previous governments extended to farmers subsidy on fertilizers ahead of elections. They vanished after polls. It was strange that the subsidies were given when there were no fertilizers available at all. Farmers bought them in black market, standing in queues.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the TRS government will fulfil the intentions behind formation of Telangana State going by its forays in water, power, environment, rail and fertilizer sectors. The State government symbolised cooperative federalism by working hand-in-hand with the Centre to take the country to new heights.
If the intentions of the government were good, solutions to problems could be found. That was how power reforms of the Central government brought down purchase price of power from Rs. 11.50 a unit to Re. 1.10 a unit.
Mr. Modi complimented Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for praising the BJP led NDA government though the latter was not a partner of BJP.
