Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, along with his family members and a large contingent of Ministers and officials, reached Tirupati on Tuesday by two special aircraft.
He will offer gold jewellery worth about Rs.5.59 crore to Lord Venkateswara Swamy on behalf of the Telangana Government during special VIP break darsan on Wednesday morning.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had taken a vow during the movement for statehood to Telangana stating that he would offer certain gold jewellery to Lord Venkateswara if the statehood was realised.
Accordingly, he left for Tirupati along with 43-member contingent including his family members on a two-day visit, his first in about 20 years, to fulfil the vow.
The Chief Minister and his family members, including his wife, son, daughter, daugther-in-law, son-in-law, and grand children, went in one aircraft while Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary, Ministers T. Harish Rao, A. Indrakaran Reddy, E. Rajender, T. Padma Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Chief Advisor to Government Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary S.P. Singh and others went by another aircraft.
A large number of officials, including Intelligence IGP Naveen Chand, Security Wing IGP M.K. Singh, Chief Minister’s Security Officer P. Ramakrishna, Advisor K.V. Ramanachary and others reached Tirupati on Monday itself to make arrangements for the Chief Minister's visit.
On arrival at Renigunta airport near Tirupati, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was welcomed by Andhra Pradesh Minister for Forests B. Gopalakrishna Reddy and others.
Later, the Chief Minister and his team left for Tirumala by road for the overnight stay at Padmavati guest house. After making offerings to the presiding deity on Tirumala, the Chief Minister was scheduled to attend the marriage of Chairman of Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Peddi Sudarshan Reddy.
He would also visit Tiruchanur to make offerings to Goddess Padmavati.
The Chief Minister and team would return to Hyderabad on Wednesday afternoon.
