Criminal cases against agitators for prolonged hardship to people

KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar in-charge DIG C. Ravi Varma has instructed the district police officials to register criminal cases against the agitators and others who cause serious hardships to people on the roads.

At a crime review meeting here on Thursday, the DIG told officials to take measures to ensure that the agitators complete their programmes within a short time without causing any inconvenience to the people on the roads.

“If the agitations continue for several hours causing problems to people, the police should register criminal cases against those perpetrators”, he opined.

He also warned of disciplinary action against the police officials if they were found negligent in discharging their duties or investigating into any case. He also instructed the police to expedite the issuance of non-bailable warrants (NBW).

In the wake of incidents of suicide attempts by the people in the police stations, Superintendent of Police D. Joel Davis asked the police officials to thoroughly screen the visitors before entering into the police stations.

He told them to gear up for smooth conduct of ensuing festivities in the district by intensifying the security arrangements. Additional SP (Admn) T. Annapoorna, Godavarikhani ASP Vishnu S. Warrier and others were also present.
