WARANGAL: Government should strengthen the hands of farmers and ensure increased food grain production in the State said Congress leader Gandra Venkataramana Reddy.

In view of increased availability of water for irrigation, the Government should help farmers get fresh loans for the next season, he opined. The TRS party promised of loan waiver but failed to keep its promise. “Until 2014 there was good food grain production. Since then it has come down by 50 per cent,” he pointed out.

Houses for oustees

Mr. Reddy said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao faced the wrath of oustees of Mid Manair Project for whom he had promised double bed room houses. Till date, they did not get a sing house there, he observed.

The Government should focus on fulfil its promises, particularly to the farmers who were in distress due to prolonged dry spell then and now due to floods. He accused the district administration of failing to assess the crop damage properly.

The Congress leader said that the State Government lacked priorities and focus and as a result there was no governance in Telagnana, he alleged. The ruling party leaders were virtually running the administration in districts with sole aim of making money in all government schemes.

Blaming past regimes

The Chief Minister was still blaming the past regimes for all his own failures. He had been raising issue after issue only to divert the attention of the people in general. The ongoing district reorganization lacked transparency and proper guidelines.

The only objective seems to be political mileage for the ruling party. “People are observing and they will judge at an appropriate time,” he opined.
