Collector wears dhoti, sets example

January 03, 2017 12:35 am | Updated 12:35 am IST - RAJANNA-SIRCILLA:

Rajanna-Sircilla Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar attended various official programmes on Monday donning the pancha-kattu (dhoti).

In order to promote the handloom industry and encourage weavers, the Collector, who had instructed all the government officials and employees to wear handloom products on Monday, attended the programmes in traditional attire, thus emerging a role model for the employees.

Mr. Bhaskar also expressed his dissatisfaction over officials not wearing handloom products in spite of giving clear instructions.

The Collector attended various government programmes such as Prajavani grievances redressal and watershed inauguration programme in Gaga Singavaram of Gambhiraopet mandal. He instructed all government employees to enrol in the Chenetha Lakshmi scheme and purchase handloom products and other dress material made by weavers.

Similarly, the officials of Peddapalli district, including Collector A.S. Alagu Varshini, also attended official programmes wearing handloom products.
