The Union Minister of Agriculture also said that the State government failed to identify the mandatory Farmer Friends.

Union Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar stated that ₹92 crore has been given as grant-in-aid to A.P. in the last five years under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme, but the State government failed to identify the mandatory Farmer Friends.

Answering an unstarred question raised in the Rajya Sabha by YSRCP member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy on Friday, the Minister said the objective of ATMA was to make the extension system farmer-driven and make it more accountable to farmers by promoting key extension reforms.

The scheme also addressed gender concerns by mobilising farm women into groups, the Minister explained. In a table, the Minister said Andhra Pradesh received ₹22.64 crores in 2014-15, ₹10.40 crore in 2015-16, ₹13.14 crore in 2016-17, ₹19.46 crore in 2017-18, and ₹18.85 crore in 2018-19.
