2K run, signature campaign for voter enrolment awareness

Khammam Collector leads from the front

Giving a fresh momentum to the efforts aimed at raising awareness on voter enrolment, the district administration organised a 2K run and a signature campaign here on Sunday.

Collector R.V. Karnan flagged off the 2K run at the scenic Lakaram Tank Bund amid a festive atmosphere on Sunday morning. Mr Karnan participated in the voter enrolment awareness rally along with sub-Collector Anurag Jayanth before launching a signature campaign highlighting the importance of voter enrolment.

He administered a pledge to the participants to actively spearhead awareness on voter enrolment driving home the message, ‘Greater participation of voters for a stronger democracy’.

He explained in detail about the ongoing second special summary revision of electoral rolls and called upon the eligible youth, who have completed 18 years as on January 1, 2018, to enrol themselves as voters before September 25.

Scores of youngsters, morning walkers, and people from various walks of life took part in the run. Holding placards with slogans ‘My vote - My responsibility’, ‘Vote is your voice’, ‘Your vote matters’ and ‘Strengthen democracy’, children hogged the limelight at the awareness programme.
