248 paddy purchase centres for Adilabad

Administration has decided to open as many as 248 paddy purchase centres across the district and they will be functioning from Tuesday. Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies will run 216 centres, IKP 25, ICDS five and MEPMA two.

According to Krishna Prasad, District Civil Supplies Officer, an estimated 3.5 lakh tonnes of paddy was expected to arrive in the market this season. The same quantity of paddy was purchased through authorized purchase centres last yasangi also, he said.

For Grade-A grain ₹1,590 per quintal would be paid and for Grade-B ₹1,540. Arrangements were already on for smooth process of purchase and adequate number of gunny bags were already placed at the centres, he said.

Mr Krishna Prasad, however, said farmers were asked to bring the crop after three four days, ensuring proper moisture per cent in the produce.
