200 Congress activists selected for padayatra

The District Congress Committee (DCC) has identified 200 party workers from each of 12 Assembly constituencies to take part in the proposed padayatra of Rahul Gandhi in Telangana districts.

At a preparatory meeting held here on Saturday, DCC president N. Rajender Reddy has asked the leaders to make success the ensuing ‘Rythu Atmagourava Padayatra’ to be led by party’s vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Id cards for participants

Those participating in the yatra would be given identity cards and every worker should wear a ‘Gandhi topi’ and party flag.

The padayatra was aimed at consoling the families of the farmers who committed suicide due to crop failure.

Former minister Baswaraju Saraiah, former MP S. Rajaiah, city wing president T, Vidyasagar, TPCC general secretary Hari Ramadevi, Narsampet MLA D. Madhava Reddy, DCCB chairman J. Raghava Reddy, former Mayor Errabelli Swarna, TPCC media secretary E.V. Srinivasa Rao and leaders of Congress frontal organisations were present.
