Over 2.5 lakh children in the age group of one and 19 years in Adilabad district would be administered deworming tablets on Friday, the National Deworming Day. The programme to administer the tablets would be launched by Joint Collector K. Krishna Reddy at the Kolam Ashram school here.

Addressing a press conference, District Medical and Health Officer Thodsam Chandu said children were infected with worms in alimentary canal owing mainly to lack of personal hygiene. He said his department and others like the Education and Women and Child Welfare would disburse the 400 mg Albendazole tablets in the educational institutions during the day.

Those who could not be covered under the programme on Friday would be administered the tablet on February 15, the DMHO said.

Utnoor Additional DMHO T. Prabhakar Reddy and Deputy DMHO D. Vasanth Rao were also present.
