Team Anna should not criticise President: Ramdev

Yoga guru Ramdev on Friday disapproved of Team Anna attacking President Pranab Mukherjee at their fast venue, saying it is not proper to criticise a person holding the highest Constitutional office.

Baba Ramdev also said he was against any personal attacks on anyone, though he asserted he would continue to support the Anna Hazare movement.

“President is a Constitutional post. One should not criticise those who occupy Constitutional posts. Even Anna Hazare agrees with this,” Baba Ramdev told reporters at Ramlila Maidan, where he would launch his agitation against blackmoney from August 9, 2012.

“The person who is sitting at the highest office of Constitution, one should not make comment about him. In present circumstances, one should not name Pranab Mukherjee. Whatever is there, can be seen after five years,” he said.

Baba Ramdev said he spoke to Mr. Hazare on the issue and the latter had told him that he has congratulated Mr. Mukherjee on becoming President.

On July 25, 2012 Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal had said, “If Lokpal was there, Mukherjee would not have been the President. The Constitution provides immunity to President from any investigation. Now Congress has put a ‘chadar’ (veil) of Constitution on the President.”

The yoga guru said his agitation against blackmoney will begin as scheduled on August 9, 2012 and he would fight till the end.
