Youths create trouble at transgender colony

June 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

Demanding the arrest of a youth who allegedly harassed them, a group of transgenders gave a petition to the police on Monday.

As some youths were reportedly creating trouble to the transgenders living in small group near Veeramarthandanputhur for the past few days, the affected persons submitted a complaint at Aralvoimozhi police station.

Even as the complaint was pending with the police, two persons, who entered Veeramarthandanputhur on Sunday night in an inebriated condition, were said to have verbally abused the transgenders.

While one of them was nabbed and thrashed, his accomplice managed to escape. When the youth with injuries was handed over to the police in the night itself, he was asked to come to the police station on Monday morning.

As he failed to come to the police station as instructed, the transgenders gathered in front of Aaralvoimozhi police station.

They were pacified with the promise that the troublemaker would be taken to task.
