Youth leader held on sedition charges

The police on Friday night arrested Satish alias Satish Kumar (30), State convener of the Tamilaga Ilaignar Ezhuchi Pasarai, on charges of sedition.

Based on specific input that Satish was associated with the agitation against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, a team apprehended the suspect when he arrived in the district on Friday, police sources said.

Tirunelveli Deputy Inspector General of Police V. Varadaraju said the accused was involved in a case pertaining to the training of suspected Maoist cadres in Uthangairai in 2002.
