An 18-year old onlooker was gored to death by a bull during a jallikattu organised illegally at Seebam village near Uthanapalli on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as P. Muniraj of Podampatti village, Krishnagiri.

Five persons, including T. Karthi, president, Ullatti village panchayat, were arrested and remanded to judicial custody by a Judicial Magistrate II in Hosur.

The Uthanapalli police have registered a case under sections 147, 304 of the Indian Penal Code and the Tamilnadu Jallikkattu Regulation Act. In spite of court restrictions on conducting the event, it was organised in the name of “Erudhu Vidum Vizha” in many villages in the district, said a social worker.
