Yatri Nivas to come up in Tiruvannamalai

The facility will cost ₹28 crore

The Yatri Nivas to be constructed for devotees visiting Tiruvannamalai will be in the shape of a ‘Sivalingam.’ It will be constructed on 3.76 acres of land near Esanya Lingam Temple at a cost of ₹28 crore, according to a press release.

Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Sevur S. Ramachandran on Friday inspected the site finalised for the Yatri Nivas.

This was for the benefit of devotees visiting the Arunachaleswarar Temple to perform ‘girivalam.’

The facility would comprise rooms for devotees, dormitory, hotel, rooms for drivers and laundry. Basic amenities such as drinking water facility and toilets would be provided, and a mini sewage treatment plant would also be constructed.

Review meeting

The Minister said that an elaborate discussion was taken up to look into the arrangements to be put in place for the lakhs of devotees, who would be thronging the town for ‘Karthigai Deepam’ on December 2.

At the review meeting, Collector K.S. Kandasamy and Jaya, Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department were present.
