WRO approves VIT proposal for Palar riverbed clean-up

The Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Organisation (WRO), Public Works Department, Chennai Zone has approved a proposal of the VIT University, Vellore to undertake cleaning of the bushes that have grown in the Palar river bed from New Bus Stand to Konavattam in the first phase of its Green Vellore Scheme.

According to a release from the Vellore District Collector, the VIT University has come forward to remove the bushes under the first phase of the Palar clean-up project in association with the non-governmental organisations and public of Vellore.

The clean-up would be inaugurated on the Palar river bed between the Polur Subramaniam Bridge and the Anna Flyover (New Palar Bridge) at 12 p.m. on January 16.

The Collector has appealed to the public to cooperate with the WRO, the various departments to be involved in the work and VIT for the clean-up operation.
