Women lose chains

Two incidents of chain snatching were reported in which two persons, including a college girl, lost their gold chains on Wednesday. The police said that S. Muthukumari (19), a final year undergraduate student was returning home when two motorbike-borne robbers snatched her two-sovereign gold chain. The girl from Fathima Nagar was walking her way back home when the pillion rider snatched the gold from her at Harvey Nagar in full public view around 5 p.m. The Karimedu police are investigating.

In another case, P. Chellammal (65) was relieved of her three-sovereign gold chain at Tirumogur on Tuesday afternoon. The police said that the woman was drying washed clothes on the clothesline near her house at Middle Street, when a man yanked the gold chain and fled the scene. The Othakadai police have registered a case.
