A resident of Villukuri village on Thursday made an appeal to the Kanyakumari Collector to order a DNA test on her son to identify the body of her husband, who is suspected to have been buried alive with four others in the backyard of a home in Saudi Arabia.
According to a petition submitted by A. Amala Bai, five Indians -- two from Tamil Nadu and three from Kerala -- were allegedly buried alive in 2010.
Appeal
She appealed to the Collector to direct the Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital or any other government hospital to conduct a DNA test on her son to identify her husband buried alive in Safwa. The local police had registered a case against the Saudi national and sought the DNA report to establish the identity of the deceased, after persistent follow up with the Ministry of External Affairs by Ms. Amala Bai.
The woman, who is employed in a cashewnut processing unit, stated that she last spoke to her husband, Lazar Asirvatham, on March 19, 2010.
Sami Ahmad Khan, Under Secretary to the Government of India, while confirming the e-mail from Ms. Amala Bai, wanted her to forward the DNA report to the Emigration Office of India in Saudi Arabia for identification of Lazar’s body.
