A woman and her paramour were secured by the Vadamadurai police on the charge of harassing her three-year-old daughter on Sunday.

They were identified as mill worker Sudha of Ayyalur and Pandi of Eriyode. Police said that Sudha had left her husband Kumar of Vaiyampatti four years ago and was living with her mother Chinnaponnu with her daughter.

Sudha developed intimacy with her co-worker Pandi of Eriyode and eloped with him, taking the three-year-old daughter with her, four months ago. Later, Sudha handed over her daughter to her mother at Ayyalur bus stand and left the place. Chinnaponnu found the baby having burn injuries on the thigh, scar on leg and hands and back, along with a dislocated shoulder. She admitted the child to the Government Hospital in Dindigul for treatment.

Meanwhile, local people urged Sudha to go and see her child as the baby had to undergo a surgery. When she and Pandi came to the hospital, they caught the two and handed them over to the police. Based on a complaint lodged by Chinnaponnu, the police have registered a case and are investigating.
