Woman climbs mobile tower, seeks release of arrested persons

A woman climbed a mobile tower on Saturday demanding the release of all those arrested in the public-police clash, in the Thandampattu village near Chengam, that occurred on Thursday night.

A few days ago, Ramamurthi, a cleaner, fell from a lorry and sustained injuries. He died at a hospital in Salem and police booked case under section 174 of Cr.PC. But his relatives protested and demanded that the case be booked under different section. Manila, wife of Ramamurthi, climbed the mobile tower in Thandampattu village.

She wanted the release of all 19 persons arrested in the case. However, police personnel rushed to the spot and tried to convince her. She came down after half an hour after a lot of persuation.
