Woman arrested with counterfeit currency

A middle-aged woman from Jharkhand was arrested by the police when she tried to exchange a counterfeit note at the Vadaseri market on Wednesday night.

According to the police, the woman allegedly accompanied by an agent, Krishnan from Mumbai, came to Kanyakumari, a few days ago. The couple stayed in a lodge. The man, who allegedly had bundles of counterfeit notes went underground as soon as the woman was caught in Nagercoil.

Police recovered a few counterfeit notes in the denomination of Rs. 1000. Vadaseri police has launched a manhunt for the agent.

The woman was produced before a local magistrate who remanded her in judicial custody. Vadaseri police registered a case and are investigating.
