The Veterinary College and Research Institute celebrated the Wildlife Week recently with the theme ‘Living with Wildlife’ and organised elocution, essay writing, painting, quiz, rangoli and wildlife photography competitions for its students.
These were organized by the ‘Wildlife Club’ of the college.
Winners received prize from R. Kanchana, Deputy Director, Ambasamudram division of Kalakad - Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve who released pamphlets on wildlife.
In her special address, Dr. Kanchana stressed the importance of greater awareness of wildlife conservation among the students.
Dean, Veterinary College and Research Institute, S. Prathaban explained the importance of celebrating Wildlife Week and emphasised that the Wildlife Club should work in coordination with the forest officials in conserving the wildlife and thereby create more awareness among the younger generation.
Earlier, V. Subash, fourth year student, welcomed the gathering.
S. Muthukrishnan, Associate Professor, Department of Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary College and Research Institute, proposed a vote of thanks.
