‘Lottery King’ Santiago Martin’s wife Leema Rose Martin on Monday stated that media reports claiming that huge sums of money were seized by Income Tax officials from the businessman’s house in Coimbatore were not true.

According to her the I-T officials carried out searches at houses of Martin, his employees and relatives between April, 30 and May 4. “The I-T sleuths searched my house at Thiruvalluvar Street at G.N. Mills on April, 30. I, my son and a few employees were at the house during the searches. The total money found in the house was ₹98,820 for which the I-T has given a signed receipt,” she said.

Meanwhile, the wife of the accountant, who worked for the homoeopathy medical college owned by Martin, petitioned the police on Monday, seeking an investigation into the alleged involvement of the staff of Martin’s firm and I-T sleuths in his death.

The accountant was found dead in a pond near Karamadai last Friday. The petition alleged that seven persons who introduced themselves as I-T officials came to her house on April 30 and abused her using her caste name. The body of the accountant is kept at the mortuary of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where it was autopsied on Sunday. His family refuses to accept the body.
