Wholesale price of egg continues to rise

The National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), Namakkal Zone has increased the wholesale price of egg by 10 paise and fixed at Rs. 3.70 here on Saturday.

NECC officials said that due to intense heat in Andhra Pradesh and in North India, egg production was affected in the last two months and normalcy is expected only after two months. Hence, due to increase in demand, the wholesale price of egg continues to be on the rise from Rs. 3.49 on July 1 to Rs. 3.70 on July 6. This is the highest average price of egg in the last six months, they added. The average price of egg in January 2015 is Rs. 3.18, Rs. 2.72 in February, Rs. 2.61 in March and April, Rs. 3.13 in May and Rs. 3.56 in the current month, they added.
