Wet grinder units to float company, approach government for bulk orders

May 22, 2011 04:10 am | Updated November 17, 2021 01:10 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Wet grinder manufacturers here plan to come together and establish a separate company with an eye on possible bulk orders from the State government for supply of mixers and grinders under a special programme. The AIADMK, in its manifesto, had promised free mixers and grinders to the people.

Coimbatore Wet Grinders and Accessories Manufacturers (COWMA) president N. Rajan Babu told The Hindu on Saturday that 150 to 200 manufacturers here would form the company. Most of them were small-scale manufacturers and would not be able to procure large-scale orders. Hence, it was decided to form the company.

The association proposed to help these units get bank loans for expansion and take up large-scale orders. “We want to meet government representatives soon. Even if a large-scale company gets the government order for wet grinders, the manufacturing should be outsourced to the units in Coimbatore. Instead, we want to get the orders directly,” he said.
