Welfare measures worth Rs. 2 lakh were distributed to the physically challenged in a function organised here on Sunday by a group of friends for the 14th year in memory of Mother Teresa.

After unveiling the portrait of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Tirunelveli Superintendent of Police V. Vikraman handed over the welfare assistance that included sewing machines, wheel-chairs and musical instruments.

Industrialist D.S. Jayasingh unveiled the portrait of Mother Teresa.

Superintendent of Palayamkottai Central Prison R. Kanagaraj participated in the event organised by a group of friends led by social activist Paapuraj.
