WEAT seminar on June 26, 27

The Women Entrepreneurs Association of Tamil Nadu (WEAT) will organise a two-day seminar on entrepreneurial opportunities for women and youth in the city on June 26 and 27. The seminar will provide an exposure on opportunities for starting ventures in various fields, training facilities, government schemes, export opportunities, management, and marketing. Free counselling will be provided, a press release said. Those interested can register their names at WEAT office at St. Paul’s Complex, Bharathiar Salai, Tiruchi. For details, call 4200040.

Dry banana unit

District Collector K.S. Palanisamy on Saturday inspected the solar dryer unit installed by the Banana Producers Group at Thottiyam for producing dry banana. The group has installed the unit and the value-added product had a shelf life of six months. Mr.Palanisamy inspected the unit and interacted with the group members on the operations.

Special camp

About 235 differently abled persons were issued national identity cards at a special camp organised at the Balasamudiram Government Higher Secondary School near Thottiyam on Saturday. District Collector K.S. Palanisamy issued sanction orders for monthly assistance to 10 differently abled persons on the occasion and said the applications of 78 others would be processed soon. Differently abled persons were screened at the camp organised under the National Rural Livelihood Mission and the Department of Differently Abled, a release said.
