January 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:11 am IST - Tiruvannamalai:

Tamilaga Salavai Thozhilalar Nalakkuzhu (TSTN), a washing workers association based in Tiruvannamalai expressed its objection to a dialogue in the trailer of K.V.Anand’s movie ‘Anegan’.

Executives of the outfit that met here recently observed that a dialogue in the trailer of the movie was denigrating woman folk of washing workers and the trade itself. “The washing workers across the State feel offended and are enraged by the dialogue. Hence TSTN condemns the movie’s director K.V.Anand,” a resolution passed at the meeting said.

Other resolutions passed at the meeting also revolve around the issue. One such resolution demands removal of the objectionable dialogue from the movie that is scheduled to be released next month. The resolution demanded Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam to take action in this regard.

Other resolutions condemned the sensor board for allowing dialogues that belittle and divide working class, denigrate women in Tamil movies in general and for allowing objectionable dialogue in Anegan in particular. The association also resolved to build a federation of different associations of washing workers and take forward the protest against ‘Anegan’. General Secretary Tha.Ma.Prakash presided over the meeting.
