Wage panel to hold talks with transport staff

The State government has constituted an 11-member committee of officials to hold negotiations with all trade unions of the transport corporations’ employees on wage revision.

It follows an understanding between the unions and the government on Wednesday to resolve the strike by the employees.

An official says that the talks will be held in the presence of Transport Minister V. Senthil Balaji and about 15 registered unions are expected to be invited for the negotiations.

The panel has P. Umanath, Additional Secretary, State Finance Department, besides managing directors of all the eight State transport corporations.

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s Managing Director will be the convener of the panel.
