Vellore Ladies Circle, Adyar Cancer Institute and the NSS Unit of Auxilium College jointly organised ‘Hair for Hope’, a hair donation campaign, on Thursday. Over 160 students and volunteers donated their hair to help cancer patients.

Sundara Moorthy, assistant professor of psychology and oncology, Adyar Cancer Institute, said though patients come out of physical imbalance after treatment, the stigma of their appearance continues. The wig culture gives confidence to those who lose their hair due to chemotherapy.

He detailed the latest tests available to take preventive steps against cancer. Principal of Auxilium College R. Regina Maryand Swapna Rajesh, national secretary, Ladies Circle, presided over the programme.

Chairman of Vellore Round Circle Rajkumar, vice-principal S. Sumathi and NSS programme officer of Auxilium College P.R. Amutha gave their felicitations. Chairperson of Vellore Ladies Circle Lakshmi gave the welcome address.
