Residents of Vilampatti and Avarampatti villages blocked a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus plying between Avarampatti and Nilakottai at Avarampatti on Thursday, condemning the sudden cancellation of certain services to the village.
They demanded that all services should be extended to the villages as usual. The TNSTC had been operating six services a day between Avarampatti and Nilakottai, covering E. Kovilpatti, Ethilodu, Vilampatti, Karuthandipatti and Kamatchipuram villages for the past two years. It suddenly suspended certain services to these villages.
Nilakottai police assured the agitators that steps would be taken to fulfil their demand.
Later, TNSTC Batlagundu Depot Manager Sathyamurthy told the villagers that all services to these villages would be resumed immediately, following which they withdrew the agitation.
