Ten-member panel to draft document

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi’s high-level committee passed eight resolutions here at the party headquarters on Monday in Chennai. A 10-member committee that includes D. Ravikumar, Vanniarasu and Sinthanai Selvan has been put in charge of drafting the election manifesto for the party and it will be made public in the first week of March.

While the committee has given party founder Thol Thirumavalavan authority to decide on alliance partners and negotiate seat-sharing on behalf of party, it has also initiated the formation of duty committees and appointment of booth-level agents for each Parliamentary constituency in Tamil Nadu. The party has also demanded a return to ballot papers during elections.

The appointments will be done in consultation with Parliamentary and Assembly constituency secretaries. The committee has said that the list should be completed and submitted by the end of February.

The party has condemned the arrest of scholar Anand Teltumbde and demanded the immediate release of seven life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
