VAOs plan State-wide agitations

May 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - Dindigul:

The Village Administrative Officers have decided to intensify their protest against the Dindigul district administration as it “failed” to take any action in connection with a suicide attempt made by a woman VAO in Oddanchatram.

All the VAOs across the State would boycott the Jamabandhi from Monday and lay siege to the Dindigul Collectorate on May 15, said Tamil Nadu Village Administrative Officers’ Association State general secretary Venkateswaran.

Talking to reporters after presiding over the association’s State council meeting here on Sunday, he said that criminal as well as civil action should be initiated against those responsible for Oddanchatram VAO Thamizh Selvi taking the extreme step of attempting suicide.

She was being treated at Oddanchatram Government Hospital.

Police should register a case on the basis of her statement, he demanded.

The association members would stage demonstrations throughout the State on May 12, 13 and 14, he added.
