The State BJP units has triggered a political controversy depicting Tamil poet-savant Thiruvalluvar in saffron robes

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) founder Vaiko has condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for giving a religious colour -- saffron -- to Tamil saint poet Thiruvalluvar.

In a statement on Monday, Mr. Vaiko said: “If the BJP does not stop it’s act, the people of Tamil Nadu would give a fitting reply.”

He also opposed the usage of English and Hindu in traffic violation challans in Tamil Nadu and questioned why Tamil was not found in them.

The State BJP units had triggered a political controversy depicting Tamil poet-savant Thiruvalluvar in saffron robes, in a portrait that accompanied a tweet.
