Vaiko continues padayatra against INO

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko continued his padayatra to Bodi from Theni on Wednesday, explaining to the people at villages en route “the adverse effects of India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO)” at Pottipuram near Thevaram.

He campaigned at several villages, seeking public support to the agitation against the INO. He appealed to the people to send at least one member from each family to fight against the project. He said he had fought over Mullaperiyar dam issue to establish the rights of the people and not for electoral gains.

He also met schoolchildren and interacted with them. Mr. Vaiko was upset with the poor arrangements made by party cadre at Palanichettipatti.

On Tuesday, he began the second leg of his 10-day padayatra to Cumbum at Andipatti to create public awareness against the proposed INO project and concluded it in Theni with a public meeting. He has cancelled his campaign in the district on Thursday in support of the total bandh called by the DMK and its allies.
