As students of Plus Two of the State stream took their language paper in the Higher Secondary examination on Thursday, they did not face any disruption in power supply.
This became possible essentially due to steps taken by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO), which either rescheduled the duration of load shedding or did not effect load shedding.
Even in those places where load shedding had to be resorted to, the duration did not go beyond an hour and in such examination centres, generator sets came in handy.
Reports from Chennai, Madurai and Tiruchi indicated that no load shedding was carried out during the examination (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
In the Nilgiris district, all 32 centres had uninterrupted power supply. In Coimbatore, Tirupur, Namakkal and Salem districts generators are used as stand-bys.
