Two-wheeler rider fatally knocked down

A 62-year-old man died after his two-wheeler was knocked down by a lorry at Ashok Nagar on Wednesday.

According to the police, Perumal Swamy, a resident of Jyothi Nagar, Ekkatuthangal, was working as a cook in Ashok Nagar.

He was riding his two-wheeler on 100 Feet Road at 6 a.m. on Wednesday when a speeding lorry hit the vehicle.

Perumal Swamy was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The lorry driver, D. Krishnan, 47, from Red Hills, was arrested.

Car overturns

A car overturned on Kamarajar Salai around 2.30 a.m on Wednesday after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

According to police, S. Aravind, 27, a native of Kerala, was at the wheels. He was driving fast and suddenly applied brakes. He lost control of the vehicle and it overturned after crashing into barricades.

However, Aravind escaped without injuries. The Anna Square traffic investigation police have registered a case.
