Two persons drowned in a water body at Melkothakuppam in Melpatti police station limit on Monday. The police gave the names of the dead persons as Pradeepan, 27, and his cousin Sukesh, 17. The two had taken cattle to a water body near a foothill to wash them on the occasion of Pongal. Sukesh was caught in the slush and Pradeepan had gone to his rescue. Since they did not know swimming, they drowned. The Melpatti police have registered a case.
